26 January, 2007

Hong Kong 22 January 2007 – To keep pace with the regularly upgraded API classification, Omega, the lubrication division of Magna Industrial Co. Limited, has upgraded Omega 631 Superior Quality Engine Oil and Omega 778 “Type II” Synthetic Engine Oil to higher API classifications as stated in the following table:

Omega Lubricants

Omega 631

Omega 778

The upgraded products are now available.

By attaining higher API classification, those three lubricants meet or exceed many prestigious auto and engine manufacturers’ stringent performance requirements. The new engine oils shall offer end-users more environmentally friendly maintenance tools, better fuel consumption rate and more effective performance in sub-zero & elevated temperatures.

Comparison Between SM vs SL
For automotive gasoline engines, the latest engine oil service category includes the performance properties of each earlier category. If an automotive owner's manual calls for an API SJ or SL oil, an API SM oil will provide full protection.

SM
For all automotive engines presently in use. Introduced in November 30, 2004, SM oils are designed to provide improved oxidation resistance, improved deposit protection, better wear protection, and better low-temperature performance over the life of the oil. Some SM oils may also meet the latest ILSAC specification and/or qualify as Energy Conserving.
SL
Introduced in July 1, 2001, SL oils are designed to provide better high-temperature deposit control and lower oil consumption. Some of these oils may also meet the latest ILSAC specification and/or qualify as Energy Conserving.

SM engine oils provide the end-user with:

  • Improved high temperature performance, particularly in the areas of oxidation control and engine cleanliness.
  • Improved fuel economy (In ILSAC grades).
  • Improved wear performance.

** Meanwhile, if your customers demand the “SL grade” Omega 631 20W50, we still have a small batch of stocks available.
