KONG 30 June 2005 - Magna Industrial Co. Limited,
a division of ITW, Inc. today launches MAGNA 28 SuperTIG
Al-Bronze Alloy. This marks the second new product launched
in 2005 under the world-renowned industrial maintenance
brand of MAGNA Welding Alloys.
Marine, off-shore
operators and turbine maintenance mechanics have one problem
in common, i.e. wear and corrosion. Parts and components
consistently exposed to corrosion by sea water and high
level of condensation can never be properly repaired by
an ordinary filler metal.
The industrial
maintenance market pressingly calls for a high quality
anti-wear & anti-corrosion TIG filler alloy. The consummate
answer engineered by MAGNA Welding Alloys is: MAGNA 28
SuperTIG Al-Bronze Alloy.
MAGNA 28
SuperTIG Al-Bronze Alloy is a superior non-rusting TIG
filler metal for rebuilding or overlaying metal against
wear and corrosion. The weld deposit of MAGNA 28 offers
high mechanical properties, tensile strength, yield strength
and hardness. MAGNA 28 can also be used for joining dissimilar
metal combinations, such as copper to steel or bronze
to steel.
“MAGNA
28 SuperTIG Al-Bronze Alloy can be used in a wide range
of applications, especially the marine maintenance environment
since it offers superior resistance to saltwater corrosion,”
said Mr. C.K. Leung, Sales & Marketing Manager, Global,
Magna Industrial.
“MAGNA
28’s unique formulation and the proprietary balance
of aluminum and other alloying elements have endowed it
with excellent anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties,”
commented Dr. Ricky Ho, Technical Director, Magna Industrial.
“MAGNA 28 is excellent for re-building and overlaying
both copper-based and ferrous alloys.”
MAGNA 28
SuperTIG Al-Bronze Alloy is recommended for many versatile
applications in the most corrosive environments. It is
especially useful for marine maintenance and repair welding
of ship propellers, pump housings, rigging jacks, piston
heads, bearings and many overlay or surfacing applications.
MAGNA 28
is ideal for pump shafts and valve spindles – situation
where pitting corrosion in crevices makes stainless steels
unsuitable. MAGNA 28 performs outstanding on inert gas
fans in oil tankers, since they operate under highly stressed
conditions in a variable but very corrosive atmosphere
containing salt-laden water vapor, sulphurous gases and
carbon.
“Together
with the innovative MAGNA 39 FC TIG “RootGard”
launched on 30 May, MAGNA 28 SuperTIG Al-Bronze Alloy
represent the continuous endeavor of MAGNA Welding Alloys
in engineering the highest quality welding solutions based
on the latest technology,” said Mr. Sudhir Sthalekar,
Chief Executive & General Manager.
